I had a question about how to get graphics on fabric, specifically rayon fabric - and here's the clincher, I need it to show on one side but it absolutely can't leak onto the other side.

I tried fabric paint with stamps, didn't work - regular fabric paint with brushes didn't work.
I'm thinking about using an airbrush but that seems a little complicated.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

I was just charged $9.00 customs charge for a small box of just some fabric swatches. This seems exorbitantly high to me but then, I don't know what it is normally.

Do any of you either have clothes manufactured there or know anyone who does who I could ask? Any help on this would be very very much appreciated. Thank you.

So...

What I would love to go is have a get together to sew, design, etc. certain projects, but I have so many I would like to do, I want to know what you guys would like to get together to create! I've got things like fur coats, skirts, bodices, thrift store re-vamps, halloween costumes, boot covers and fire proof performance clothing as just a *few* of the projects I want to work on in the next months on my list... How about you?

What would you like to get together with other sew-y crafty types to create, get feedback (and possibly pinning and measuring help) with?

Once we have a few ideas, I'll start setting up a time and date for our 1st get together! Yay! I can't wait to meet some new people who share my interest in sewing and costuming. :)
Beach Pants are the ones that tie in the front & the back.

I was thinking of making a Gothy version for Bat Day (Goths at Disneylands 8/27/05)
Maybe black sheer lace with solid black ripped looking material underneath from hip to a few inches to my knees.

All reasonable people now agree that the Santa Suit has, in recent years, become a mandatory year-round wardrobe item.

And yet, some of us find ourselves without one.

I suggest conducting a Santa Suit construction event for some
upcoming weekend. On Saturday, we could conduct a group outing
to the LA fabric district around 9th and Maple. We purchase materials (possibly getting a quantity discount if there are
enough of us). On Sunday afternoon we meet to work on the suits.
(With the less experienced being aided by the more experienced)

Resources and skills needed by the team:
1) Suit construction workspace (w/ tables, chairs, etc.)
2) Sewing machine(s)
3) Pattern(s)
4) Drivers/carpool organizers (if desired)
5) Various items - scissors, pins, marking equipment-
people can provide their own
6) Patient, helpful, experienced seamsters/seamstresses
to help the less skilled.
7) Skilled fabric price negotiators.

It is on point 6 that I reveal myself as the parasite that I am.
I'm really bad at sewing. Last year the crude tunics and caftans
I made for myself were mocked and scorned AT BURNINGMAN!
And they elicited howls of rage and fury from my friends off-playa.
I am not exaggerating.

What say you all? Any interest in this? Is there critical mass?
I could contribute use a living room, dining room, and garage
(w/industrial sewing machine). However, it is all the way out
in Thousand Oaks...
